FOX NEWS ARGUING ABOUT WOMEN STAYING AT HOME

Megan Kelly (Fox News) said that she was offended by what her male colleague's said about mothers in the workforce causing the breakdown of society.  They think women should stay at home and take care of the family like when they were kids.

So let's look at the "Wonderful" '50s when mom stayed at home and their husbands went to work.  Many of those women were on tranquilizers!!  After WWII ended and women were sent back home, consumption of tranquilizers went from 0 to over 1 million pounds a year.  I'll bet some of those pills were being consumed by those veterans too.  It's not easy to kill other people, and not feel something.  

Now let's fast forward 20 years to when their children came of age.  Do you remember the '70s?  Wasn't that fun?  Drugs, Sex, and Rock & Roll!!! Now those offspring are the ones who are wailing and gnashing their teeth asking WHY, WHY, WHY???  The generation that is parenting now are our children.  If they are screwed up WE did it!  Why is everyone always pointing their finger at someone or something else?  Look in the mirror, and ask yourself what you can do to make things better.  Don't expect someone else to fix everything.   

LET'S TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES LADIES

I recently found out that my girlfriend of 40 years had to go into the hospital for a hysterectomy.  She had a 15 pound growth in her abdomen.  Fortunately it was benign, and she is now healing.  I could not understand how she could have let it get to that point.  After all, both of us had worked for a company (with a union) that provided benefits even in our retirement. 

I go every year for a complete physical.  I have more doctors checking me for developments than anyone I know.  I go to my primary doc for the physical, then to a skin doc, and a heart doc, and a neurologist (for other stuff I won't go into here) the eye doc, the dentist, the Chiropractor, and of course to the gynecologist, even though someone told me that after a certain age you don't have to go to the gyno every year.  I asked my doc about that and she said "That might be true, but you are not going to get uterine cancer on my watch" so I still go.  

I am now due for my 10 year colonoscopy, and after what my girlfriend just went through, I will be the happiest patient they have ever seen at the hospital for that procedure!! 

Please ladies use any benefits you have and stay well.   Prevention is the key!

In 1979 RITA C. BANNING was the first women to be elected to the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners.  In the 1983 election BANNING won re-election.

In 1986, BETTY LINKER was appointed to replace Commissioner Allan C. Myers, who had died while in office, which meant that two women were on the board. 

Four years later both Banning and Linker were returned to office.

Linker died in 1989 and another woman, Floriana Bloss, was appointed, meaning that there were again two women on the board.

Nearly ten years after Rita Banning and Floriana Bloss left office RUTH DAMSKER joined the county board in 1999, and was reelected twice.  She served until 2008. 

LESLIE RICHARDS is the current female Montgomery County Commissioner.
